Time for next mega Sessions?

2013 would be the 15th year of passing out from FMS, another excuse for a megasessions.

Right time to plan for it:

When? - This would depend on the Where to some extent. If summers would be too hot in/around Baroda, it is difficult for MM to depart from Delhi in Decembers. 26th/27th Jan happens to be Sat/Sun, could be a good time.

Where? As Golu had suggested earlier, Daman/Silvassa is a good choice, easily accessible to all.

What? - sessions & daaru, what else?

I have changed. A bit.

First of all, let us all thank Pikulal for reminding us that we had this blog.  It was a good flashback to when we still had a bit of naivete.

I took a look at the old 'tests' I took and decided to see how I fared against my old perception of myself.  The result: I am no longer Superman.  I am Spiderman.  However, the Serenity test is still valid.  I am still Mal, and I really doubt if I am the guy anybody would want to have as Captain.

So here are the scores:

Look up Serenity and Firefly on IMDB/Google, will ya?  I have both on DVD.

Anyway,  now that we remember, why don't we take the opportunity of putting our fresh bouts of foolishness here for general glee?

Season of change and BKJKYKB-11 announcement

The first quarter of 2007 has been a season of change for many of us. The biggest news was Dhirubhai committing to discard his single status. Other highlights: Fakhrubhai moving on from medical transcription, Pikulal admitting Middle East is Middle East, big 4 or not, and my finally getting over my insecurities deciding to move my ass to Mumbai. Well, not all insecurities, as I am still with the same employer!

So what will we see now? Chandubhai joining manufacturing? Danda giving up on academics? Dimri giving up his vices?

Your comments are welcome.

Further, I hereby make my non-alcoholic invitation to have a celebratory session in Mumbai public.

Event: BKJKYKB-11 (Bewadon Ki Jamaat Ki Yaadon Ki Baraat - 11 for the uninitiated)

Date: Mid-April.

Venue: Somewhere in Kandivli (West).

Program: Visits to bars, Dhiru's place in Bandra, Juhu beach, and if offered, joyous agreement to be guests at a dinner party somewhere near Juhu scheme.

Attire: You joke, right?

Precautions: Dhiru be advised to look for and obtain engagement insurance. The others to engage in a joint effort to switch the Mumbai suburban railway electricity supply off in case Dimri climbs atop a compartment.

MegaSession-I

Fakru isn't hiding his face in shame, but just lighting a bidi. BG has raised his leg as he had to do something, and for no other purpose (nor was he known for raising his leg for any/the purpose). 1st Row, 2nd Left, is the greatest sessionbaaz of all times in the good old days (has he changed??)
Pakyas (not seen in the pic) makes his presence felt thru the bottle (4th left, last row, if you count cig's, glasses, bottles, dk's hand & other accessories) displayed by dande (!!).
Don't go by the pic - can mgbhai (or anyone) be in the centre of things by pushing out bapu & BG???

Kaka's collection

Kake has sent me the pix from 24 Dec 2005, from their visit to the faculty at the faculty, and the megasession during the night that turned into Christmas day. I have not touched up these images, so you can edit them the way you want.

THESE PICTURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN WITH A SONY (C) (TM) CAMERA.

OK. From top left: Prof. K M Joshi, Prof. M N Dholakia, our own Chanche, Dr. Surendra Sundararajan, our own Kaka and Bapu, our own Chandu and Fakhru, Dr. D S Sarupriya, Dr. Sunita Sharma, Prof. G C Maheshwari (Dean) and Dr. Amita S. Kantawala.

The Original Kings of er..Sessions with the Original God of Sessions...ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Prof. Girish Chandra Maheshwari, the Dean Extraknowledgeable of the Faculty of Management Studies, M S University of Baroda.

Pakyaz seems to be explaining the finer points (?) of a Jaux to Ammo. Hmm. Check that floor.

Now you'll understand why I called Bapu the Benefactor of All Buffaloes, Keeper of All Cows, Guardian of All Goats, Califah of All Camels, Hero of All Horses, Sultan of All Sheep, Dean of All Donkeys (IIRC), and the Uncrowned King of Sessions.

We still await Fakhrubhai's collection. Please send the whole bunch (2 MB at a time) to my office email. We also await Pudmud's (canon) images. Sorry I referred to them in the same post with SONY(C) (TM) images.

BKJKYKB-10 (Minutes-4)

this reminds me of another one that bapu forgot. we tried guessing daddu's age. after a long discussion whether he was born in the 40's or 50's, we thought it safer to fix it in the 60's. i now think we were wrong!!

another interesting fact, daddu was dressed in smart-looking short hair, while dande sported pretty long hair. he either wanted to make daddu comfortable with a hairstyle adopted by film actors of daddu's youth, or to make the likes of kake & yashwant jealous.

BKJKYKB-10 (Minutes-3)

minutes-3 by daddu...

Something that happened afterwards:

I forgot the farsan Fakhru gifted me in Dimri's car, along with the liquor chocolate from Kake. In the morning, I had forgotten my towel in Fakhru's apartment.

After coming back to Pune, I forgot my camera and accessories on my desk at the office. Luckily, it wasn't swiped, so you all will get the pix.

BKJKYKB-10 (Minutes-2)

parts that bapu missed:

at mgbhai's place, we talked to bgbhai. as he had guests at his place (in mumbai), we had to use the phone!!!

a grt effort was made to preserve for posterity, the last signs of hair on kake's head (which, for some reasons, he resisted). at last, fakrubhai (who else but..) managed to have that perfect pic. ltr, kake helped fakrubhai download his (kake's) pic from his (again, kake's) cam to his (fakru's) comp. now we wait for fakrubhai to share the masterpiece with the rest of the group.

we also went to the old fav samrat, and packed some sev-usal for the very early morning dinner, to relive old memories.

another exception this time (apart from absence of genius) - pakyas was not attired in his customary white kurta-payjama & stayed back.

also, kake was quite pleased as he found many sony mobiles, cams, tv's being used by his fellow-sessionbaaz's. thats until padmad took out his canon (as in camera, and not *&%$#@), and questioned sony's output.

we also couldnot perform the legendary steps known as "padmad dance", which would be undertaken during kake's wedding.

BKJKYKB-10 (Minutes by the greatest Sessionbaaz)

On 12/27/05, Jyotin Kalaria sent the following minutes:

deferring to the request of the great sessionbaaz... the minutes aregiven below :

a) session started with a visit to faculty.. did not meet our favjadu... but nevertheless, had a good news that dholubhai is almost outof danger from his malignant tumor of pancreas for which he hasundergone a painful treatment. he looks very thin and drawn.. normalaffects of radiotherapy are still worse on a person (so informs ourexpert fakubhai ... as he has the deepest knowledge of the diseases, thanks to his profession)

b) after a long time and some photosessions we moved to eat. alas...everyone has become soft and since we did not want to risk kaka'sdelicate amrikan stomach.. we skipped indori punjabi for havmor.

c) the grp moved to dimri's place and then over to check out on mgbhaiwho has suffered a mild heart attack. here also understand the case isnot very serious and it was more due to arteries blocked due to ahigher level of certain enzyme. Doctors are hopeful that once theenzyme levels are in control... which is easily done... mgbhai willhave no further threat and will live longer than any other managementguru.

d) on this happy note we moved to the humble abode of ... who else butyours truly... who had, in anticipation understood a particularproblem that may have dogged the celebration viz... the venue, cajoleddipti to go and meet her parents.

e) Though the ambience was never near the great halls of msu (SP andVS)... we managed to bring the group in the right mood after a fewpegs of chivas regal brought down by kake especially for the occassionwere downed (again out of respect of certain members who have turnedsoft with age we desisted from ordering the session special - genius).

f) As the session went into full swing we discussed certain topicsdetailed below: kaka's engagement with kaki and the romantic and other aspectsof the process leading to this selection, how he came to the decision& more importantly what was the "defining moment' (when kaka hadsubconsciously surrendered his heart). Here i would particularly put on record the pains chandubhai took toexplore this defining moment and the pains pakya went to - to find outin detail about kaka's exp with a certain 40% of females kake wasreferring to who had spotless skins, chiselled features, etc etc ...whose temptation kake could resist for so long to wait for thatdefining moment and that perfect partner... (we may continue thesession on this as a separate string.. since i thought that the samewas not discussed threadbare in those inebriated condition)

g) then the group moved on to the person whose name is synonymous tokake --- but of course the great chache - the upholder of thebachelorhood, eternal fighter of freedom from female, the keeper ofthe ... (may be dave can fill in the adjectives) and his great fall.Unfortunately, due to the pecuilar way chache speaks, his reluctanceto disclose all vis a vis the full opening of heart by kake, and theinebriated condition, we did grasp a few things. Chache had resistedmuch temptation (while this were miniscule compared to kake's fightagainst the charms' of 40% females about which pakya could explaineveryone better) and even went into some clandestine understanding andcolluding with the suitors to ensure that he can preserve hisbachelorhood. but alas... his defining moment also came quickly and heis now happily boasting that he has made it a pre-condition that hewill continue his smoking against smriti's admonitions but due to hissharafat (i.e partial surrender) he indulges in this offensiveactivity in the gallery instead of the main rooms.

h)apart from this main issues certain side topics were also discussed, manu mahajan was remembered for his valiant effort to make it to thesession and disturbed late (to my surprise he immediately picked upthe phone as if he was sure we will require his participation) atnight.

i)kaka cooked a great dinner with god know's what ingredient he gotfrom my fridge and the group left a heap of utensils (that i had topersonally clean as the bai was given chutti by my wife)

j) though no one puked... fakrubhai's limit was achieved fast and hewent off to sleep.. then chandubhai.. yash, yours truly and pakyacalled it quits after about 4 o'clock in the morning

k) Daddu - the great came in early and went off to fakru's place, jb,padmad & danda arrived frm a'bad at around 11.

l) the session first continued in the open in my porch but dandachecked everyone looking at the future discomfort it might cause to mesince i had to live there permenantly... we moved inside

m) several topics were discussed and several people were called in tocontribute on phone which included pikulal, roopa, alka etc... thissession has been fairly well picked up by digicams and handicams and iam sure someone can compile a better audio visual capsule then my oldfashion of lengthy mails (btw... lengthy mails (i.e. letters) writtenby someone were also a topic of discussion in the morning session)

and after a great lunch of sizzlers (we of course downed a couple ofpegs in the afternoon before going to lunch to relive those days whenpeople did not think twice of having a few quick one's beforeimportant exams) everyone dispersed... leaving me and daddu tocontinue for the next 4 hours till he caught the bus to pune...

----- AND AFTER BIDDING HIM ADIEU - I WENT HOME WITH A COUPLE OFCIGS... WENT OFF TO SLEEP WITH THE FOND MEMORIES OF THE PAST TWO DAYSAND THE MEMORIES OF THOSE WONDERFUL TWO YEARS WE HAD SPENTTOGATHER..... TO WAKE UP IN THE PRESENT..... WHERE I COULD PUT THISMAIL ON THE SESSION ONLY AFTER TWO FULL DAYS...

THE GOOD THING IS THAT THOSE PRESENT HAD AGREED TO FIX A DATE IN THECALENDER FOR SESSION EVERY YEAR... TO ENUSRE THAT THE GROUP CONTINUESTO MEET REGULARLY WITH FEW ABSENTEES OWING TO CIRCUMSTANCES... BUT THEGREAT TRADITION OF SESSION CAN CONTINUE.....

IN BETWEEN... OF COURSE DADDU HAS ALREADY SHOWN US THE WAY WITH GOOGLEARRANGING FOR THE VENUE......

I therefore throw open this small session on google till we meetfor the next mega session.... most probably next year (when chanche kasharafat itna badh gaya hoga that maybe after considering the hazzardsposed by passive smoking to the society, he will refuse smokingaltogather.... even at the sessions)
